Disney has announced that it is investing $1.5 billion in Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite, marking its biggest move into the gaming world.

Fornite Chapter 5 Season 2 was set to release on March 8, but with servers down what's going on with the game?

This newest season, titled Myths and Mortals, is centered on Greek mythology. During last weekend’s live event, Pandora’s Box was opened by the community, unleashing all the evils trapped inside.

Fortnite shared that Olympian legends such as Hades and thunder god Zeus are ruling the Island in otherworldly rage and you must use their mythological means against them in this new season.

New locations include Mount Olympus, Grim Gate, The Underworld and Brawler's Battleground.

New powers are available, including the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the power of flight with the Wings of Icarus. Fortnite also hinted at the Chains of Hades being another power added on later in the season.

So with servers down, when will you be able to play the latest Fortnite season? Here's what we know.

Is the Fortnite system down right now?

Due to updates being made during downtime and some unexpected issues encountered while doing maintenance, Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale is taking longer than usual to drop.

The highest reported outages were at 7:06 a.m. Friday, with 1,227 reports on Downdetector.

On their account @FortniteStatus they have been providing up-to-date information on the status of the game.

Many fans have commented on the accounts' posts to express their understanding and disappointment.

"ATLEAST 8 HOURS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I DONT WANNA BE RUDE BUT THIS IS SO UNHEARD OF WHAAAAAAAAT" @Merl commented.

"Cheers mate, sons crying now" @Leven2k commented.

"Don’t worry about it," @BATRITS commented. "I cant imagine the stress the employees are in right now. Take the time that’s needed without stress!"

When are Fortnite servers going up?

Most recently at 7:14 a.m. @FortniteStatus posted and said it would take at least eight more hours to get everything running and they are working as quickly as possible.

So Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals will probably not be up until at least 3 p.m. MST.

When does the new Fortnite season come out?

Fortnite Battle Royale Myths and Mortals is supposed to be released on Friday, March 8.

Fortnite said on X that Chapter 5 Season 2 would be up by 3 a.m. EST, midnight PST and 1 a.m. MST but this did not happen because servers went down.
