Duchess Meghan's animated series will no longer premiere on Netflix.

The streaming giant has cancelled plans to premiere the project created and executive produced by the Duchess of Sussex as part of her and Prince Harry's landmark production deal. Tentatively titled Pearl, the show would have followed the adventures of a 12-year-old-girl who finds inscription from a variety of influential women from history.

Deadline reports that the series was still in development at Netflix, and would have been Archewell Productions' first animated show. The news comes in the midst of a wave of cutbacks after the streamer announced a drop in subscribers, with two other kids animated series also dropped last week.

Other projects set under the Archewell banner are still moving forward at the streamer, including Harry's upcoming docuseries Heart of Invictus, which follows athletes' journeys to the Invictus Games, which took place at The Hague, Netherlands last month.

There's no news so far on whether Pearl will be considered at other streamers or networks. The series was first announced last July, as the second show under the duke and duchess' multiyear deal.

"Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges," said Meghan in a statement. "I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today."
