Moises Henriques to play BBL final with COVID-19
Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques will play the BBL final while battling COVID-19, as his side won the toss and decided to bowl first against Brisbane .
The Sixers confirmed on Wednesday afternoon Henriques had tested positive to the virus on Monday, but would still play.
Daniel Hughes stood in at the toss for Henriques, who has entered COVID protocols and is limiting contact with his team where possible.
“Sixers players and staff, the Brisbane Heat, match officials and broadcast/media have been informed so they can determine appropriate action,” the Sixers said in a statement.
“Henriques is in no doubt to take his place in the BBL13 Final.”
The Sixers are hunting a fourth title with a win at the SCG on Wednesday night, while Brisbane are gunning for their first since their 2012-13 success.
Stopping Brisbane opener Josh Brown will also be crucial for the hosts, after the right-hander’s 140 from 57 balls against Adelaide took the Heat into the final and put the 30-year-old into the record books with 12 sixes.
The Sixers are unchanged from the team that beat Brisbane last week in the finals-series opener, while the Heat have brought in Mitchell Swepson for Charlie Wakim.
