YNZN Releases Dancefloor-Shaking EP 'Body Rock' Via Berlin's ...

Kathmandu's Prasidha Yonzon aka YNZN (previously known as YNZN.P) has just released a new EP 'Body Rock' on Berlin's SSPB, the 1994-founded label by Modeselektor.

Prasidha's time DJ-ing seems to heavily feed into the 4-track EP as it sees the composer-producer step almost entirely out of his formative playgrounds of hip-hop to create club soundtracks. The very start of the EP builds an ambience with pattering echoes of percussion for the intro of 'Smoke and Mirrors'. It utilises the same delay technique that DJs employ to build up intensity, before starting to play around with samples of folk vocals.

As always, Yonzon draws from more than one sub-set of styles with a venture into drum 'n' bass on 'Deuce' and going beyond into the fast-paced influence of footwork 'Body Rock' without entering the genre. Most notably, both the title track and specially 'Headshot' feature a wall-shaking heavy constant low-end that hasn't been seen in Yonzon's discography so far.
