Fujifilm Announces 3 Solutions
Fujifilm North America Corp. has announced the Fujifilm X-M5 mirrorless digital camera, the Fujinon XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR II zoom lens, and the Fujinon XF 500mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR super-telephoto lens.
The Fujifilm X-M5 camera is designed to appeal to emerging content creators that want to use one lightweight (13-ounce) device to make both still and moving images. “It’s a tool for the ‘camera curious,’” says Victor Ha, vice president of Fujifilm’s Electronic Imaging and Optical Devices Divisions.
The camera measures 4.7"x2.6"x1.5" and is available in silver and black versions. It’s equipped with a back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor2 (with approximately 26.1 megapixels), an X-Processor 5 processing engine and three built-in microphones. It features subject detection autofocus (developed with AI technology) and Face/Eye AF. It can record up to 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit open-gate video onto an SD card and supports 4K/60P and 1080/240P capability.
The silver Fujifilm X-M5 will be available in November, and the black version will be available in April 2025. Both will list for $799.95.
The Fujinon XF 16-55mm maintains an F2.8 aperture and a minimum close-focusing distance of 11.81" throughout the entire zoom range. It features an 11-group, 16-element configuration that includes four aspherical lenses, one Super Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lens and three ED lenses.
The lens weighs about 14 ounces and features a dust-resistant, weather-resistant and low-temperature-resistant construction, with 12 sealing points throughout the lens body, along with a fluorine coating on the front element for water and smudge resistance.
The Fujinon XF 16-55mm lens will be available in December and will list for $1,199.95.
The Fujinon XF 500mm offers the longest prime-lens coverage in the X Series lineup. Designed for quick autofocus response and fine detail in even the most challenging outdoor subjects, it’s ideal for birding, other wildlife and sports.
When paired with an optional Fujinon Teleconverter XF1.4X TC WR1, the lens reaches a maximum focal length of 700mm (35mm equivalent focal length of 1,067mm), and with a Fujinon Teleconverter XF2X TC WR1, it extends to 1,000mm (35mm equivalent focal length of 1,524mm). It features 21 elements in 14 groups, including two Super-Low ED lenses and five ED lenses. Leveraging the APS-C format, which provides a 1.5x crop-factor equivalent, the lens is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 2.94 pounds.
The Fujinon XF 500mm will be available in December and will list for $2,999.95.
