The NRL All-Stars game highlighted Indigenous unity both on and off the field.
On Saturday, the Māori All-Stars defeated the Indigenous All-Stars 10-6 at CommBank Stadium in Sydney in a tightly contested match.
Redcliffe Dolphins prop and Indigenous All Stars co-captain Josh Kerr, in his post-match speech, expressed support for Māori in Aotearoa regarding the Treaty Principles Bill.
“I want to leave it on this note too. I understand that the Māori in New Zealand are going through something with their treaty. I just want to let you all know all Indigenous Australia stands right beside you guys, and whatever your decision is. So we love you guys. Thank you. Culture elevates culture. We love you guys,” says Kerr.
Select Committee hearings on the bill continue this morning.
