Stop worrying Nissan Patrol fans, it seems the much-hyped and highly anticipated new-generation Y63 Nissan Patrol is on its way to Australia. And soon.

Well, we think it is, based on the latest imprecise effort from Nissan to communicate its new global business plan dubbed ‘The Arc’.

The confusion started on Monday evening Aussie time when Nissan global chief Makoto Uchida outlined The Arc’s product roll-out.

Only a new ‘one-ton’ ute (the next Nissan Navara, in other words) and an electric crossover were slated for the Oceania region – in which Australia and New Zealand are the main markets – in the first phase of the plan out to the end of the 2026 financial year.

That prompted questions over the absence of the Y63 Nissan Patrol, which Uchida confirmed in another part of the presentation would have its global unveiling in 2024.

Now Nissan’s AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania) region has issued a press release confirming there will be four new models headed to Oceania.

In addition to a new Navara and the compact EV – expected to be the next Nissan LEAF – the two new models were not named, but one of them will be the new-generation Nissan Patrol. Don’t ask us how we know, we just do.

It also said more EVs would arrive in Oceania as “the transition to electrification gathers pace”.

The AMIEO statement didn’t specify by when the four confirmed products would arrive as the fact The Arc is split into two three-year periods was never properly explained.

However, we can confirm the deadline under the first phase of The Arc is March 31, 2027. (And yep, the deadline was commonly reported as March 31, 2026, in automotive media after Monday’s announcement.)

But it turns out Japanese tradition lists the start-year rather than end-year of financial years, when it’s more common practice to do it the other way round. So apologies for that and we’ve gone back and corrected the original story.

However, the AMIEO release threw more date debate into the mix by listing calendar years for some model roll-outs and sales objectives.

The reality is if the new Navara and Patrol don’t turn up until 2027 in Australia they will be way overdue.

The current D23 Navara has been on sale since 2015 and its replacement co-developed with Mitsubishi – itself an important confirmation from Monday night – should be here in 2025.

It’s a similar story for the Patrol. The current Y62 Patrol has been on sale here since 2013 and should also be replaced by the all-new V6 turbo-petrol Patrol in 2025.
