Panerai Watches & Wonders 2024 Novelties Info
In last year’s Watches & Wonders Geneva edition, Panerai unveiled four iterations of its iconic Radiomir model. This time around, the Italian watchmaker made its return to the annual watch event with five new reimaginings of the Submersible — another emblematic time-telling model that is deeply rooted in the brand’s nautical ties.
As the official sponsor for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team since 2019, the new offerings are imbued with the spirit of sailing, while also serving as tributes to this year’s America’s Cup, due to take place between August to October.
Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM01507
Leading Panerai’s showcase is the Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio going by the reference of PAM01507. This release also marks the debut of the pioneering Super-LumiNova® X2 technology. Now integrated into the watches’ indices and handset, this upgraded lume is touted to be 10 percent more luminous than its forebearers even after being submerged in darkness for over three hours.
Encased in Grade 5 titanium, the 42mm-sized time-teller boasts a build that’s both lightweight and hardwearing, while nodding to the materiality of the new Luna Rossa boat. Geared with 500 meters of water resistance and a three-day power reserve that’s powered by the P.900/GMT movement. Set to retail for $12,300 USD, the PAM01507 will be exclusively via Paneari’s boutiques starting in September.
Submersible Luna Rossa PAM01565
Releasing as an e-commerce-exclusive with a price tag of $11,300 USD, the Submersible Luna Rossa PAM01562 is presented with a blue sun-brushed gradient dial in a deep blue. Outfitted in a 42mm-wide watch case that’s crafted from stainless steel, complete with a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with matte black ceramic disk.
At the PAM01562’s core, the P.900 automatic mechanical movement provides functions such as immersion time and stop-seconds for precise time setting on top of its quintessential time and datekeeping. A Bi-material rubber and gray-hued textile strap accompanied the reference, finished with the iconic Luna Rossa red stripe.
Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech PAM01543 & PAM01466
In amalgamating cutting-edge technology with high performance, Panerai prepares a duo of Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa watches in Ti-Ceramitech — an innovative titanium alloy that’s been “ceramized” through Electrolytic Plasma Oxidation. Its distinct blue hue is a natural result of this process, alongside a fortified material hardness that is ten times tougher than regular ceramic as well as being highly resistant to pressure and thermal stress.
Sporting a sun-brushed dial in blue, the PAM01543 reference is distinguished from its sibling, the PAM01466, which boasts a matte white-grained dial. Starting this July, the latter model will be widely available across Panerai and its authorized distributors, while the blue-dial variant will be offered as a boutique exclusive, both priced at $16,600 USD.
Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rossa Experience Edition PAM01405
Last on the list, but most definitely not the least, the PAM01405 Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rosa Experience Edition is a horological beast with a case diameter of that measures 45mm. The complexity of a tourbillon is proudly exhibited through the openworked dial, while its CarbotechTM case and bezel bring out a sporty and futuristic mood with its matte-black makeover.
Equipped with a four-day power reserve, this time-teller can go as far down as 300 meters underwater. Powered by the P.2015/T caliber, the hand-wound mechanical movement is also geared with a Glucydur® balance wheel and Incabloc® anti-shock device. Limited to 20 examples, the PAM01405 has a point of $175,800 USD and is set to release in July.
