Patrick Schwarzenegger Tells Mom Maria Shriver He Got 'White ...

Patrick Schwarzenegger couldn't wait to tell his family that he was headed to Thailand to shoot Season 3 of "The White Lotus" — but he had to.

The star of the hit HBO show's third season shared the moment he told his mom, TODAY contributor Maria Shriver, and sister Katherine Schwarzenegger he had been cast and had to go to Thailand.

His family was seated at a restaurant together as they started guessing what the 31-year-old was about to tell them, according to a video he posted on Instagram Feb. 16.

"You're pregnant," Shriver says to the person behind the camera, most likely Patrick Schwarzenegger's fiancée, Abby Champion, who shouts, "No!"

"I'm just really not supposed to tell people," Patrick Schwarzenegger says. "It's fine if you guys know, but, I'll be going to Thailand."

Shriver nearly jumps out of her seat and starts screaming at the table, while Katherine Schwarzenegger sinks back in her seat.

The video then cuts to Shriver and her son hugging, as Katherine Schwarzenegger points to her tears.

"You're going to make me cry," Patrick Schwarzenegger says, wiping away his own tears once his mom breaks away from the embrace.

"I'm so happy for you," Shriver repeatedly says as the family breaks down in tears while also laughing.

Patrick Schwarzenegger also shared more about the moment in the caption of his post.

"At first, I was told I had to keep It a secret, but my family kept noticing me acting weird. Maria thought Abby and I were pregnant," he said, adding a crying laughing emoji. "She might have been happier than I was!!"

He explained the crying became a "domino effect."

He added that his family members are big fans of "The White Lotus" and that they would "mess" with him and say he needed to get on the show.

"Anyways it’s a special moment when you get to celebrate with people you love," he said. "It was one of those dream come true moments for me."

He thanked the show's creator, Mike White, as well as the casting director, Meredith Tucker, for taking a chance on him.

"I hope you all enjoy the show as much as we did. We put a lot of hard work into making It," he said. "I’m only a small piece of the pie, and the other actors and actresses on the show are truly brilliant people & actors. Was a masterclass getting to learn from them."

He ended the caption with the current season's tagline: "Welcome to The White Lotus in Thailand."

While the actor's father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, didn't appear to attend the outing, he did give his son a special shoutout after attending the show's premiere in Los Angeles.

"I was so pumped to take a break from filming to celebrate @patrickschwarzenegger at the White Lotus Season 3 premiere," he wrote in the caption of a Feb. 11 Instagram post. "What a show! I could claim to be surprised to find out he has a nude scene, but what can I say — the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Don’t miss it this Sunday — trust me."

The first episode of the show premiered Feb. 16, and yes, Patrick Schwarzenegger's character, Saxon Ratliff, does appear in the nude, after an extremely awkward conversation with his younger brother, Lochlan.

Patrick Schwarzenegger previously shared a bit about his character in an interview with TODAY.com.

“Saxon’s a very fit guy and cares a lot about what he puts in his body and about all his health and wellness and working out and stuff,” he said.

He added the character is “completely different” from himself, but there was one place of overlap. 

“It’s a character that’s working for his dad, living in his dad’s shadows and trying to make a name for himself,” he said. “So, there were similarities there for myself that I could, you know, draw upon.”
