DAVIS, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program heads up the I-5 for its road opener, facing UC Davis Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Dobbins Stadium. The Tigers (2-1) enter their first contest away from Klein Family Field following a season-opening series victory over UC San Diego. Pacific is set for the first of its 13 mid-week matchups this year, beginning at UC Davis (2-1) in the crosstown showdown. Sophomore Robert Orr and senior DJ Scott played hero last weekend, each going 3-for-8 in the series with their first home runs of the season. Scott sent the Tigers home happy during Friday's season-opening 2-1 victory over the Tritons, blasting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in his first at-bat as a Tiger. Orr factored in on the offense and defense in Sunday's series-clinching 6-3 win, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, three RBIs and a pair of runs. Orr also earned his first save of the season, pitching a scoreless frame along with a strikeout. In total, 12 players made their Tigers debut across the opening weekend of the season. Graduate student Kordell Brown was a staple in the lead-off spot all three contests, going 3-for-12 with a home run and a team-high four RBIs. Brown recorded his first collegiate home run and multi-hit performance on Saturday. Redshirt senior JT Waldon paces the Tigers with a .429 batting average through two starts. Senior Adan Perez and senior Ethan Shaver picked up the wins in relief appearances against UC San Diego, combining for 7.1 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. UC Davis is coming off a season-opening series win over Gonzaga at home. The Aggies dropped the night opener before winning the final two games. On the heels of a 29-27 season last year, UC Davis was picked to finish seventh in the Big West preseason poll. Aggies pitcher Bryan Green was selected to the All-Big West Preseason Team. UC Davis starter Noel Valdez earned Big West Pitcher of the Week for his six scoreless innings against the Bulldogs in Saturday's contest. The Tigers and Aggies will meet for the 98th time in the all-time series history between the programs that dates back to 1967. Pacific has won three of the last five road contests over UC Davis. Last season, the Aggies took both mid-week matchups against the Tigers.
