Prelim Results UFC Saudi Arabia
This was a patient clash between a pair of fighters looking to find the right shots and be efficient with their output, resulting in the two men running level for much of the contest; Abdelwahab coming out of the corner stronger in the first half of the rounds before Pogues warmed into things in the back half. With the outcome seemingly hanging in the balance heading into the third, both men came out a little more spirited and active, with neither man taking clear control of the fight, leaving it to the judges to sort out.
When the scores were collected and totalled, it was Abdelwahab that came out on the happy side of the split decision verdict, registering his first UFC victory. The Egyptian Olympic wrestler moved to 6-0 with one no contest with the win, while the Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) alum Pogues fell to 2-2 inside the Octagon with the loss.
