Dana White asked to ‘investigate these judges’ after controversial decision at UFC Edmonton had the winner admitting he lost the fight
There was some major controversy on the UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs Albazi prelims last night, with fans claiming that bantamweight Garrett Armfield was blatantly ‘robbed’ of a decision victory against Serhiy Sidey.
The decision was so skewed that it prompted Armfield to call on Dana White to investigate the UFC Edmonton officials, just as Sidey himself admitted that he also thought he lost the fight.
Dana White asked to ‘investigate’ after controversial decision at UFC Edmonton
On the preliminary card of last night’s UFC Edmonton event, 11-2 prospect Serhiy Sidey was able to get the better of American hopeful Garrett Armfield in the opening round of their bantamweight clash – then the controversy started.
As was obvious to almost everyone watching, the second and third rounds appeared to be easily won by Armfield as he out-struck and out-wrestled Sidey all the way to the judge’s scorecards… Scorecards that ultimately read 29-28 (x3) in favor of the local athlete.
Fans immediately began to call the decision a daylight robbery, with Armfield calling on both Dana White and former US President Donald Trump to examine the officials.
“INVESTIGATE THESE JUDGES,” Armfield wrote on X, tagging both White and Trump as he added: “HALF MY PAY WITH THIS INFLATION, SOMEONE CALL [Trump, White].
And it wasn’t just Armfield who was discouraged by the officiating, with UFC flyweight Charles Johnson writing underneath: “Thought u did enough. I’d say focus on last two minutes of round cause judges forget what happens first 3… 1 & 2 were close, thought u won.”
Replies from fans under the official UFC X post are sung to a similar tune, with the top comments reading “The [judges] should be fired,” “Cheating,” “When will we fix the clown show known as judging,” and of course, “Robbery.”

Serhiy Sidey admits that he thought he lost the fight against Garrett Armfield
It wasn’t just the commentary team and the fans who were surprised that Sidey had gotten the nod over Armfield, with the Canadian-Ukrainian bantamweight also admitting that he thought he’d lost the fight.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, a dejected Sidey noted that whilst it was a razor-close contest out in Edmonton, he didn’t think that he’d done enough to get his hand raised.
“That was a very close fight, first two rounds were very close – I might have edged those out, but I lost that third round… Personally, I thought that I lost, I’ll be honest.
“I got to re-watch the fight, I know that I hurt him real bad in those first two rounds, had some very close submissions so you know, I got a split decision win today… That was the hardest fight I’ve ever had.”
Armfield would comment under the post highlighting Sidey’s admission a rather simple response, “Welllll sh****t.”
Controversy or not; Sidey still won the fight and is now 11-2 as a professional with Armfield dropping to 10-5.
