Fixture clash looms for Phoenix men and women in upcoming A ...
The Wellington Phoenix men and women will play at the same time in round 17 of the A-Leagues.
Australian Professional Leagues (APL) have moved the men’s match at Macarthur FC and the women’s match at Western United to 7pm (5pm AEDT) on Sunday, February 18.
The men’s round 17 fixture at Campbelltown Stadium in Sydney was originally going to be played on Friday, February 16 but Macarthur asked for the match to be pushed back as they have an AFC Cup zonal semi-final on the preceding Tuesday.
The kick-off time for the women’s round 17 fixture against Western United has been brought forward an hour and will be played at City Vista Recreation Reserve in Melbourne.
The club had asked APL if the match could be moved as it falls on the final weekend of the Football Ferns’ Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament.
Due to venue availability and the congested nature of the remainder of the season schedule, a postponement has not been possible.
