Hawks Select Zaccharie Risacher With No.1 Draft Pick
The Atlanta Hawks selected Zaccharie Risacher with the No.1 pick in the NBA draft, the second straight year a Frenchman has been the top pick. Risacher follows fellow countryman and the San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama, who was drafted No.1 in last year’s draft. The 19-year-old is also just the fourth international player to be selected as the top pick, after Wembanyama, Yao Ming and Andrea Bargnani. "It's a blessing, you know. So exciting. There's a lot of feelings and emotions right now. I don't know what to say, but it's definitely special. I just want to do my best to help the team. I just feel like I can help a lot. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to be able to get on the court with those great players," said Zaccharie Risacher. Risacher played for JL Bourg in France's LNB Elite league, averaging 11.1 points and four rebounds across both the league and EuroCup. The Hawks selected Risacher after jumping from 11th place in the draft lottery to the top pick, their first No.1 pick in the lottery era. Risacher is joining Atlanta’s Jalen Johnson in the team’s frontcourt; however, the future of guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray remains unclear.
